Started over 35 years ago by Gus and Susan Sherman, Marietta Run Clay products are hand thrown from native Ohio clay on a traditional treadle potter’s wheel. The studio, nestled in the rolling hills of Southern Ohio, provides a perfect back drop for the natural/sustainable lifestyle Gus and Susan enjoy living.
All pieces shown are available in any of our 4 beautiful patterns: Lavender, Iris, Bluebird and Red/Yellow.
All the pieces are hand painted and sealed under the glaze so they will not fade, change or come off. All the glazes are lead free and fired at 2200 degrees Fahrenheit which yields stoneware that is strong and durable as well as oven-safe and dishwasher-safe (not recommended for microwaves).
Having been teachers before starting the pottery studio the Sherman’s are strong believers in education. Susan provides weekend pottery classes along with a 2 night stay at their bed and breakfast where you can enjoy home cooked meals on the deck using fresh produce from Gus’ garden and artisan breads and desserts from Susan’s kitchen.
